Aroma Point Therapy, or APT, combines the healing potency of
essential oils with specific acupoints or body zones in order to
catalyze shifts in the body, mind and spirit. It is a gentle, safe and
exceptionally effective healing modality that engages the
energetic potential hidden within essential oils; the vehicles of the
plant spirits and particular plant Medicine.
The practice itself involves placing key, properly diluted oils on
specific acupoints, chakras or reflex zones on the body in order to
activate energetic and physiological changes. These shifts are
part of a cascade of events that unfold both in linear and nonlinear
realities, and they foster the establishment and
"remembering" of dynamic equilibrium and authentic naturalness
on all levels of being.

Birth is beautiful, birth is traumatic, birth is both. We all need education to help us understand our babies signals as they transition into the world.

My name is Emily, and I am a doctor of physical therapy with years of experience treating newborns in the neonatal intensive unit.

I bring my background in bodywork, prenatal/postpartum yoga, and neonatal physical therapy to the most fragile time of life. I am currently studying for the IBCLC exam and am excited to bring lactation support into my practice.

My passion for working with newborns is contagious, and I have a deep respect and appreciation for their little bodies and brains. I believe that all of us need help with our bodies and nervous systems—and the best place to start is at the very beginning.

I want to help you create a strong foundation for neuro-motor development. From fine-tuning tummy time to feeding, I want you to be able to feel the warmth, love, and reassurance you deserve as a parent to a new baby without the worry of developmental milestones.

Services I offer at Rose City Wellness include: - Craniosacral Therapy for infants - Infant bodywork - Infant physical therapy for early neuro-motor development

Here are some typical reasons I evaluate and treat infants: - Birth Injury/birth trauma - Feeding difficulties - Torticollis/Plagiocephaly - Brachial Plexus Injury - Very quick delivery - Very long delivery - NICU stay - Delayed developmental milestones - “My baby hates tummy time!” (How do we do tummy time in a respectful way?) - “My baby seems really uncomfortable” (Digestive complications, tension, fussiness)

I was impassioned by health and wellness since studying massage in 2005 and after practicing  for several more years I became enamored and intrigued by the many modalities of healing. This curiosity led me to further my education and I went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Wellness and Alternative Medicine in 2011. After a brief hiatus from practicing, I realized how rewarding massage is as a practitioner and yearned to embody it once again. My approach to massage is more of a therapeutic style, with deep tissue and light traction to help one feel unbound, let go and bring awareness back within. My motto is “We are only given one body so we must treat it well.” and my goal is to help you achieve just that.

My Story- I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and the term naturopathic medicine was not a part of my vocabulary until my late-twenties. To be completely honest, I never envisioned myself as a doctor.

My path to medicine was not linear, and I am grateful for that. It allowed me to experience everything between waiting tables, traveling to over 30 countries and working with U.S. Embassies around the world to promote cultural awareness and appreciation. All experiences which have shaped me into the hard-working, well-rounded and empathetic practitioner that I am today.

My personal healing journey began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, where I made some major lifestyle changes. Consequently, a better path to health began to illuminate itself to me. A few years later while I was teaching English in Sevilla, Spain, I experienced radical health for the first time. That year was a turning point in my life. It was when I recognized the importance of community, stress and the environment in relation to health.

After completing a rigorous accelerated prerequisite medical program, it was time to take the next step in making my calling a reality. This is when I moved to Portland, Oregon to attend the oldest school of naturopathic medicine in the country.

Five years later, I obtained my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine. I currently hold a naturopathic medical license in the state of Oregon, where I live with my fiancé and toddler. I also have a satellite practice in Lincoln Park, Chicago so I can stay connected and give back to the community where I am from.

How I Practice- My approach to medicine is medically based and naturally focused with an emphasis on individualized and collaborative care. There is no one-size-fits-all cure. In order to see results, we will need to work together to get to the root cause of health issues.

I practice a trauma-informed and body-positive model of care. I accept people of all ages, shapes, colors, gender and sexual identifications and backgrounds. My practice is a safe space, and I will always do my best to make you feel that way.

You can expect transparency when working with me. I may not have all the answers. I’ll let you know if I need to do more research, and I will always provide a referral for cases that are outside my scope of practice.
